The Bourne Trilogy and Pregnancy
Fatherhood definitely colors the way one sees the world. Carolyn and I went on a date a while back to see The Bourne Ultimatum. I felt it was an appropriately themed title given Carolyn’s advanced state of expectancy. (Speaking of appropriately themed titles, King Kong was the last movie we saw before Célia Marie was born. As she approaches two, we are beginning to see many similarities.)
Upon reflecting on the film, I thought of how the entire trilogy of Bourne films is certainly a metaphor for the gestation period. Permit me to expound.
The first film was named ‘The Bourne Identity’. This equates to the period when parents seek a name and await the announcement of the sex of the child
The second film was titled ‘The Bourne Supremacy’. This aptly describes the time when the pregnancy takes over everything (conversation, dreams, social acitivities) due to preparations and the woman's increasingly limited ability to bend and move around.
Finally, the third Film is ‘The Bourne Ultimatum’. This, of course, describes the time in the gestation period when the body makes its final demands and directs the course of the rest of your life through the actual birth of the child.
Due to Hollywood’s love affair with sequels, a logical question that follows is “if the Bourne movies were to continue along these lines, what would be other appropriate titles?” I propose the following three:
The Bourne Tantrum
The Bourne Rebel
The Bourne Aliens Abducted My Child and Replaced Her with an Adolescent
I’d love to get your input.

I whole heartedly agree especially with the sequel titles as we are experiencing the "aliens stole my child and returned an adolescent". Hope all is well and have a good Christmas.
I keep looking to see if there is a baby yet. Keep us posted... all of your readers want to know!
